Photos taken from the annual 2008 Cardboard Regatta. This is where first year engineering students have to build a two-man boat using only cardboard and duct tape. They then have to race the boat through a circle-eight type course in the University of the Pacific's swimming pool. The students are graded on aesthetics of their boat, design, speed, how long it stays afloat and whether they finish or sink.

Beautiful glassy conditions for a sunset kayak we did on the west coast of San Juan Island. No orcas but we did see a couple of harbor seals, one of them a baby, and a few harbor porpoises in the distance.
